Diversity Manager Survey: National benchmarking study on diversity and inclusion in the workplace

You are invited to take part in a national research study on diversity and inclusion in the workplace. This study is funded by a Social Science and Humanities Research Council of Canada (SSHRC) Grant (SSHRC 435-2016-1227) in order to better understand how Canadian organizations are responding to changing demographics in the workplace.  This project is led by a team of researchers from Dalhousie University, Carleton University, Memorial University, and the Canadian Centre for Diversity and Inclusion (CCDI).
Your CEO/Senior Leader has also been asked to complete a corresponding questionnaire on their views.  Both questionnaires are required in order for the results to be valid.  Therefore, your participation in the study is very important. Your answers will not be shared with your CEO/Senior Leader or vice versa.

A note about terminology:
  • Diversity Manager refers to the person(s) in your organization who leads the diversity and inclusion portfolio.
  • Senior Leader refers to the highest leadership position occupied at your organization. This could include: Chief Administration Officer, Police Chief, President, Deputy Minister, Executive Director, CEO, etc
Your participation in this research is voluntary. You do not have to answer questions that you do not wish to, and you may stop the survey at any time. We will not include any incomplete surveys in our analyses. If you do complete your survey and change your mind later, we will not be able to remove the information you provided because the surveys are completed anonymously.
You may be assured of complete confidentiality.  All responses will be aggregated and analyzed anonymously.  Only the research team will have access to the survey results.  The findings generated from this project will be presented at academic conferences and a public report will be made available on the CCDI website.
The risks associated with this study are no greater than those you encounter in your everyday life.

If you have any questions you about this study, please contact the Principal Investigator, Dr. Ed Ng at (902) 494-8998, or email edng@Dal.Ca.  If you have any ethical concerns about your participation in this research, you may contact Research Ethics, Dalhousie University at (902) 494-1462, or email ethics@dal.ca (and reference REB file # 2016-4011).

This survey will take 15 minutes to complete. We very much appreciate your participation. In return for your cooperation, we would be happy to send you a $20 Starbucks gift card (available to the first 200 survey respondents). Details will be provided at the end of this survey.
