Thank you for your interest in contributing to the work of the College of Health and Care Professionals of BC as a Registration Committee member.
Committees play an important role in health profession regulatory work to achieve public protection. They are typically comprised of members of the professions being regulated and members of the public. The CHCPBC bylaws state that terms for committee members can be up to three years, renewable once.
There are five regulatory committees at CHCPBC that support the regulatory responsibilities and programs of the College. These are:
Each regulatory committee is accountable to the Board, although some have authority under the Health Professions Act to make decisions independent of it.
To help you understand this committee’s responsibilities and how to tailor your application for this committee, a composition matrix was developed summarizing the perspectives, skills, knowledge, and lived experiences that are required to support its work and mandate. The composition matrix can be found here. The terms of reference of the Registration Committee can be found here.
Conflicts of Interest
All Committee members are asked to complete a Declaration of Interests form annually to reflect upon any conflicts that may exist with respect to regulatory work.
NOTE: Those who hold a leadership position within a professional association (including but not limited to a Board member role) would be seen in conflict of interest with regulatory work. If you have any questions about whether you would be considered in conflict, please contact sgsa@chcpbc.org.
Availability
Committee and Panel meetings are held during business hours between 8:30am and 5:00pm, Monday to Friday. If appointed, we will ask you to be available during those hours to participate.
Compensation
Committee members are compensated for their time in accordance with the Board and Committee Compensation (Honoraria) policy found here. If required to travel to attend a meeting, travel and business expenses are reimbursed in accordance with the Travel and Business Expenses policy found here.
Focus of Recruitment
We are seeking interest from psychologist and school psychologist registrants to submit expressions of interest in being appointed to the Registration Committee.
We are especially seeking interest from individuals who:
We also hope to receive expressions of interest from those who are members of a community whose voices are often marginalized or ignored. We recognize that as a regulator whose mandate is to protect the public, we must embed the perspectives of all the publics we serve within regulatory decision-making spaces.
