2022 AMMI Canada New Investigator Award

The purpose of the AMMI Canada New Investigator Award is to recognize a promising new investigator who has made substantial contributions to research in the fields of infectious disease and/or medical microbiology, within 5 years of their first academic appointment. The monetary value of the AMMI Canada New Investigator Award is $1,000 CDN. 

Eligibility of Candidates

  1. Must be an AMMI Canada member in good standing.
  2. Must be within 5 years of their first academic appointment as of February 1, 2023.

Application Requirements 

  1. Letter of Nomination from an AMMI Canada ACTIVE member in good standing. 
  2. Letter of Support from an individual familiar with the candidate’s field of study. Individuals who are NOT members of AMMI Canada may provide the support letter.
  3. Candidate’s CV (Canadian Common CV or an Academic CV are acceptable formats).

Review and Selection Process
All nominations will be reviewed by the AMMI Canada Council. Criteria that will be considered include, but are not limited to, publication record, ability to successfully obtain peer reviewed funding, demonstration of academic independence, and recognition impact (for example invited presentations at a national or international conference).
 
Nominators and winners will be notified of the Council’s decision by early March 2023. One award will be granted per year. If no nominations are received or meet the criteria, no award will be granted for the year. 
 
Unsuccessful candidates may reapply for the award in subsequent years, provided they remain within the eligibility period of 5 years from first academic appointment. 
 
Announcement of the Award
The 2022 New Investigator Award will be presented at the 2023 AMMI Canada – CACMID Annual Conference.
