Program Guidelines

  • Only members of IBEW Local 2228 can apply. If you aren’t yet a member, don’t know your BA number (membership number) or are unsure if you are a member please contact the business office.
  • Any non-profit group, charity, team, event, or community undertaking which aims to improve health and fitness, promote culture, care for the environment, or otherwise support your community in some way is eligible for funding. Activities which benefit only an individual or very small group may not be considered.
  • The member making the request needs to be directly involved in the undertaking in some way, either as a participant or as an active supporter.
  • A member will only be granted a maximum of one funding request per year. If multiple members are involved in the undertaking, then it will not count as that one grant. If funding was already granted to a member or group during the trial program (Nov 2019 to March 2020) another will not be considered for this program extension period.
  • Individual grants are limited to a maxmimum of $500. The amount granted will be determined based on the member’s involvement and community impact.
  • Applications will be considered in the order they are submitted. Once evaluated, eligible requests will receive funding on the local's next payables cycle. Funding decisions for this trial program will be made by the President and/or Business Manager. All decisions are final.
  • Payments will be via the online contribution/donation system of the organisation, if available. Otherwise, it will be by cheque made out directly to the organisation in question, or an appropriate official within the organisation.
  • It may take a month or more for funds to be delivered depending on our payables cycle and the method of payment chosen.
  • This program is in addition to the already established practice of executive Board Members supporting member events in their regions.
  • The program will continue until 30 September 2020 or the total allotted funding has been depleted.
  • Program success will be evaluated by the Executive Board in the fall of 2020. A decision will be made at that time whether to renew it and what if any adjustments will be made in future.
