2022 AMMI Canada Trainee Research Award

The purpose of the AMMI Canada Trainee Research Award is to promote the pursuit of research excellence amongst trainees. It is awarded for excellent primary research conducted during infectious diseases and/or medical microbiology training, as demonstrated by their contributions to, and publication of, an original research article related to infectious diseases and/or medical microbiology. The monetary value of the award is $1,000 CDN.
 
Eligibility of Applicant

  1. Must be an AMMI Canada Member-in-Training in good standing OR a recent AMMI Canada Member-in-Training graduate (within 2 years of March 28, 2023).
  2. The candidate MUST be the sole author or the first or senior author in a multi-authored publication. Co-authorship where an equal contribution from two primary authors is explicitly stated on the publication will also be considered.
  3. The manuscript MUST have been published by a peer reviewed journal from January 1st, 2022, to December 31st, 2022.

Application Requirements 

  1. Two letters of support (one from the Program Director and one from the Research Supervisor).
  2. A copy of the published version of the manuscript.
  3. The applicant’s CV (Canadian Common CV or an Academic CV are acceptable formats). 

Exclusions: 
Applicants are NOT permitted to also apply for the JAMMI Trainee Manuscript Publication Award OR the CFID Juan A Embil Trainee Award for Excellence in Infectious Diseases Research this year.  
 
Review and Selection Process
All applications will be reviewed by the AMMI Canada Council. Criteria that will be considered include, but are not limited to, quality of the publication and contributions to the research project as outlined in the letters of support.

Nominators and winners will be notified of the Council’s decision by early March 2023. One award will be granted per year. If no nominations are received, or meet the criteria, no award will be granted for the year.
 
Announcement of the Award
The 2022 AMMI Canada Trainee Research Award will be presented at the 2023 AMMI Canada – CACMID Annual Conference.
