Attitudes Towards Urban Wildlife

Thank you for considering participating in our survey! This research aims to understand the thoughts and feelings of Red Deer residents about urban parks and wildlife. For this study, wildlife will be defined as including plants and animals, but not insects. 

Purpose: This survey seeks to gather information regarding your preferences and concerns about urban wildlife and parks in Red Deer. The data collected from this study will be utilized for academic research purposes within the Red Deer Polytechnic's Biology and Psychology departments. The findings and conclusions drawn from the analysis will be compiled into a scholarly report or academic publication.

Potential Benefits of participating in this study: The study can help reduce wildlife-human conflicts by understanding animal populations and resident concerns.
-Data on wildlife populations and movement patterns may inform future development to minimize disruption and promote human-wildlife coexistence.

Participant Criteria: To participate, you must be over 18 years old and a resident of the City of Red Deer.

Survey Details: The survey will take approximately five to ten minutes to complete. Your responses will be anonymous and used for research purposes only.

SimpleSurvey, a web-survey company located in Canada, will be used to administer the questionnaires. SimpleSurvey follows all Canadian privacy acts, including the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents act (PIPEDA), and the Alberta Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA). Funding: The research team acknowledges the financial contribution of Riipen towards the student data collector.

Confidentiality: Your responses will be kept confidential and anonymous. No personally identifiable information will be collected.

There are no foreseeable risks associated with completing this survey, and agreeing to this consent form does not waive your legal rights in the event of research-related harm.

Storage of Data: The data will be securely stored for a period of 5 years, after which it will be destroyed following ethical guidelines.

Incentives: By participating, you will have the opportunity to be entered into a draw for one (of five) $10 Tim Horton's gift cards.

Voluntary Participation: Your participation is completely voluntary and you are under no obligation to participate. You can choose not to answer any specific question or withdraw from the survey at any time without penalty.
