In January 2023, The Canadian Public Health Association's Normalizing Conversations project launched the
Organizational Assessment Tool for Substance Use and Stigma
.
This tool was developed in partnership with CAPSA to help organizations identify policies, along with environmental and cultural factors that contribute to substance use stigma and discrimination.
The long-term goal of the organizational assessment process is to foster an environment where clients feel welcomed, safe and respected when seeking care, and where staff and volunteers are supported in providing care. We aim to understand how this tool has been used, and utilize the feedback provided to make improvements.
