BC Parkway Survey

Joyce Street to Boundary Road

Share your feedback on pathway design

BC Parkway is a multi-use cycling and pedestrian path that follows the SkyTrain route connecting Vancouver, Burnaby, New Westminster and Surrey. As part of TransLink’s ongoing investment in active transportation, we are planning upgrades to enhance safety and accessibility for all users.

Why Are We Making These Changes?

Our goal is to make cycling, rolling, and walking an easier and safer choice for people. By separating cyclists and pedestrians, we can create smoother, more reliable journeys and encourage more people to use the Parkway for their commutes, exercise, or recreation.

Your Feedback Matters

We are currently evaluating two alignments options for separating the cycling and pedestrian paths along the Parkway between Joyce-Collingwood Station and Boundary Road in Vancouver.

Project Area Map

Option A: Upper Path for Cyclists, Lower Path for Pedestrians

A rendering showing the upper path for cyclists and lower path for pedestrians

Key benefits:

  • The lower pedestrian path is visible from the street, providing natural surveillance and a sense of security for pedestrians.
  • Pedestrians have easier access to amenities such as transit stops and parks along Vanness Avenue South.

Considerations:

  • Pedestrians coming from Vanness Avenue North will need to cross the cycling path to reach the pedestrian path.
  • Cyclists on the upper path have reduced visibility from the street.

Option B: Upper Path for Pedestrians, Lower Path for Cyclists

A rendering showing the upper path for pedestrians and lower path for cyclists

Key benefits:

  • The lower cycling path is more visible from the street, providing natural surveillance and a sense of security for cyclists.
  • Cyclists have easier access to amenities such as transit stops and parks along Vanness Avenue South.
  • Pedestrians coming from Vanness Avenue North can remain on the upper path, while pedestrians on Vanness Avenue South will already be served by street-level sidewalks.

Considerations:

  • Pedestrians need to navigate changes in pathway elevation to access the upper path.
  • Pedestrians coming from Vanness Avenue South will need to cross the cycling path to reach the pedestrian path.
  • Pedestrians on the upper path have less visibility from the street.

Have Your Say
